Lee Thomas, a previous MLB player and leader who burned through nine years as the Philadelphia Phillies senior supervisor, died Wednesday. He was 86 years of age.

Thomas developed the Phillies program that won the 1993 National League flag following a 97-win season.

That achievement, which came around the same time he drafted future All-Star third baseman Scott Rolen, prompted him getting Sporting News Executive of the Year praises.

"Lee was an extraordinary man and will be remembered fondly inconceivably," Phillies Chairman Emeritus Bill Giles said, per the group's eulogy.

Thomas last functioned as an extraordinary partner for the Baltimore Orioles from 2011 to 2018. He was drafted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2008.
